Just like every area of our beautiful county, Grassy Creek has a lot to offer, but it can be difficult to find information about Grassy Creek specifically.  We've compiled a list of places to stay and things to do that are within Grassy Creek or in the immediate area.

Stay on the Farm at Carolina Pines

The River House Inn & Country Restaurant

The River House is a quaint bed and breakfast along the New River with a full bar and lovely restaurant serving breakfast and dinner.  It is located in Grassy Creek and owned by legendary Grassy Creek resident, Gayle Winston. Most of the twelve uniquely decorated guest rooms are converted farm buildings with king-size beds, private bathrooms, jacuzzis, art, books and country antiques.

Dallas' Place/Hiker's Haven (Rental Home)

Dallas' Place/Hiker's Haven is an AirBNB owned by a fellow Christmas tree grower. It is approximately 1.5 miles from our farm and offers all the comfort of modern amenities in a mountain getaway. This classic farmhouse was built in 1900 and completely remodeled in 2020. It still boasts its classic charms while also offering modern farmhouse conveniences. With 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, ample parking, and a huge yard, the entire family can getaway in the mountains.

Unforgettable (Rental Home)

Unforgettable is a handcrafted Buckminster Fuller design Geodesic 3/4 Dome. Set on 40+ acres in Grassy Creek, this air conditioned home provides a fully equipped kitchen, satellite TV, VCR, AM/FM radio with C/D player, washer/dryer, and charcoal grill. With 1.5 baths, 1 Queen, 1 Double and 1 Twin Bed, the home will accommodate 5 in the upstairs loft area.

The Nuthouse Cottage (Rental Home)

The Nuthouse Cottage is a three story structure with a well-appointed and convenient kitchen including gas cooktop and oven and a dishwasher. Located in Grassy Creek, the home is 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Amenities include washer / dryer, DVD player and free WiFi (40 Mbps download), and beautiful views. Things to Do

Grayson Highlands State Park

Grayson Highlands State Park is located in neighboring Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.  It is 30 minutes away via main roads and 15 minutes away via backroads. 

Near Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, Virginia's two highest mountains, Grayson Highlands offers scenic views of alpine-like peaks more than 5,000 feet high. Facilities include a visitor center, campgrounds, and hiking trails leading to waterfalls, overlooks, and the famous wild ponies!  Scenic horse trails and a horse camping area with electric and water hookups, stables and parking for trailers are available. The park provides year-round access to the Appalachian Trail and the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail.

New River State Park

The New River State Park U.S. 221 access and Visitor Center is a 20 minute drive away.  The U.S. 221 access offers hiking trails, picnic shelters, RV or tent camping, and paddling access. A visitor center with an exhibit hall complements interpretive programs on the river’s history and ecology. The picnic shelters, as well as a community building, can be rented for family or group gatherings.

Riverside Canoe and Tube Rentals

Riverside Canoe and Tube Rentals offers canoe, kayak, tube, and cabin rentals. Their self guided New River paddling trips range from 5 miles to 11 miles, or overnight. Riverside Canoe is located 6 miles (15 minutes) from our store.
