Located along the Virginia/North Carolina line, The Old Store is more than just a place to park for the night. It’s a destination where RV travelers can slow down, explore scenic backroads, relax on the porch, and experience one of the most beautiful rural valleys in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Old Store sits in the heart of historic Grassy Creek, the first rural historic district in Ashe County to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The store itself features local foods, gifts, crafts, apparel, frozen meals, and a year-round Christmas tree education center that shares the story of Christmas tree farming in North Carolina.

We currently offer three Harvest Hosts camping locations on the property, each with a different experience and view.
Site A — Easy Access & Convenient Parking
(Unavailable November 1–December 15 during Christmas tree harvest season)
Site A is our easiest and most accessible location. It features:
- Gravel surface
- Mostly level parking
- Electric available
- Convenient access to store WiFi and outdoor seating
- Close proximity to The Old Store
This site works well for larger rigs or guests arriving after hours.
Electric hookup at this location typically requires a 15–30 foot power cord, though a longer cord gives additional parking flexibility.
If you arrive after business hours, Site A is the default overnight location.
Site B — Meadow & Christmas Tree Views
Site B is a back-in driveway site with beautiful views overlooking a large meadow and rolling Christmas tree hillsides.
Features include:
- Beautiful countryside setting
- Electric available with extra cord
- Possible water and sewer access
- Quiet location away from the road
Leveling is generally required, as the rear of the site sits slightly lower.
Because this area is occasionally used for longer-term guests, availability may vary.
Site C — Hilltop Views & Quiet Mountain Evenings
Site C is our most scenic location and a favorite among experienced RV travelers.
This site sits uphill overlooking The Old Store and surrounding Christmas tree fields. Guests love the elevated mountain views and peaceful atmosphere.
Please note:
- Backing skills are necessary
- Access involves a curvy hill
- Leveling is required
- Electric may require an extended cord

We offer several optional services for overnight guests:

- Trash disposal: $5/night
- Extra nights: $20/night (up to two nights available)

If you would like electric hookup assistance, please arrive during operating hours so staff can help direct you to the correct hookup location.

- 9 AM – 6 PM daily
- Winter Sunday hours (January–April): 1 PM – 6 PM
